Scarlett Cibilich, Building Souvenir

A meandering of the hand, digital textile printing and an idiosyncratic method of building intertwine as a series of assemblages for Scarlett Cibilich's exhibition Building Souvenir.

These processes, drawn together as a wall-based installation, evoke a painterly subjectivity and build on the weight and surface quality of physical matter, as it is seen here to be a set of self-prescribed linguistic tools. Worked over, cut into, stretched and stacked, these tools generate their own form of arbitrary architecture, citing an engagement with material that imagines gesture as transient, generative and of the moment.
