Overview

Caroline McQuarrie’s solo exhibition The land, again is now open at Aratoi Wairarapa Museum of Art & History. Presented by the museum, the exhibition brings together large-scale works in wool, weaving, and cross stitch that reimagine Aotearoa’s farming landscapes as human-made and culturally shaped constructs.

The project grew out of Caroline’s residency at The Gullies in mid-2023 and her subsequent exhibition here at the gallery in early 2024, How deep into the earth we sink. The exhibition also aligns with the Golden Shears 2026, to be held in Masterton in early March.

The exhibition is accompanied by the launch of a new publication on Saturday 14 March at 2pm, extending the research and material thinking that underpins the project.
