Ruby Wilkinson and Christian Dimick, (a)part

29 September - 10 October 2021
Overview

Wilkinson and Dimick predominantly work in the field of painting, but occasionally employ other mediums — poetry, drawing, sound and photography.

We are pleased to present an exhibition of works in our foyer, and downstairs at the Yu Mei Lounge, by two final year art students from Massey University.

Ruby Wilkinson and Christian Dimick are emerging artists based in Te Whanganui-a-tara, and are completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) programme at Massey University. They predominantly work in the field of painting, but occasionally employ other mediums — poetry, drawing, sound and photography.

Their exhibition (a)part explores how works are created and informed through the closeness of a shared studio and intimate relationship. As a means of making work, they embrace basic gestures, creating a symbiotic pictorial conversation. Form and narrative develop naturally, thoughts rise and fall, allowing the paintings to be the result of a gradual process of reflection and response.

(a)part is running in conjunction with the College of Creative Arts final year exhibitions paper.
