"I live in a really small apartment, and I don’t have a studio at home so I’m just working anywhere I can really, on my sofa or at the kitchen table, and I have been developing film in my kitchen. I’m also planning and working towards my show with Jhana Millers Gallery later In the year. The project is set in Wellington, and mostly the photograph’s are made in walking distance from my house, so have been able to continue shooting for that a little bit, although I can’t make portraits at the moment which is a bit frustrating.

I have been watching lots of horror films and also looking at my collection of photobooks which I don’t usually spend enough time with. I love photobooks because they can take you into a kind of different world for a while kind of like films or novels. I have a little collection of friends artworks which I really enjoy living with (Miles Hendricks, Meg Porteous, Robyn Daly, Teresa Collins, Sam Stephenson, Tom Mackie, Shannon Te Ao, Michael McKeagg etc).

I have been making lots of crepes, and hanging out with my cat Hank a bunch too. Walking a lot in the bush near my house – I saw a pair of Karearea/New Zealand Falcons up there which I’ve never seen before. I have had some time to work on a bunch of new books with my small press publishing company Bad News Books, so even through it’s a weird time, I’m just trying to make the best of it – We are hoping to make a book with my sister Sallie Culy who does these great drawings – this one is called ‘Person with Covid-19’ which she drew just before the lockdown."
